OCALA--The College of Central Florida men's basketball team closed out the regular season with a big win over Santa Fe College on Wednesday night in Gainesville, defeating the Saints 81-78. With the win, the Patriots have solidified at least second place in the Mid-Florida Conference.
The Patriots took a 44-31 lead into the half, but saw its lead diminish in the second half.
CF rallied to tie things up with 4:30 to go and led 79-75 with 10 seconds remaining, but the Saints came marching back, hitting a baseline three with 10 seconds left to make it a one point game. Quenton Jackson solidified the win by draining two free throws in the waning seconds.
CF will now await the Eastern Florida State-Santa Fe game on Saturday evening to decide its fate. An Eastern Florida win and the Patriots will play in a playoff game to be determined to decide the final spot in the upcoming state tournament. A Titan loss would solidify first place in the conference for CF and an automatic spot in the state tournament.
