OCALA--College of Central Florida men's basketball team outlasts FCSAA No. 2 Chipola College in an over-time thriller at Patriot Gym to remain unbeaten.
CF's Canberk Kus put up the tying shot with 6.2 seconds remaining in overtime and drew the foul to create the game-winning three-point play to seal the 86-85 overtime victory over the Indians.
CF (7-0) and Chipola entered tonight's game undefeated.
The Patriots went into the locker room up by one at halftime and led by as many as 11 points in the second half. Chipola didn't back down, chipping away at the Patriot lead and eventually took their first lead of the second half (73-72) with four minutes to play.
It was a back-and-forth affair in the final minutes.
CF's Kevin Hunt Jr. stepped to the line and drained two free throws to cut Chipola's 76-73 lead to one. Chipola answered back with a free throw of their own to inch ahead 77-75 in the final 30 seconds.
Hunt answered the call again for the Patriots, driving the lane and sinking the game-tying layup with 29 seconds to send it into OT and set up Kus' eventual game-winning play.
Kus led all scorers with a season-high 20 points on the night, while Hunt and Van Turner Jr. each added 15 points. Turner finished 5-for-7 from behind the arc.
CF will be back in action tomorrow night at 6 p.m. when they host South Georgia Tech for the second day of the CF Thanksgiving Shootaround. Chipola and St. Petersburg College will tipoff at 4 p.m.
