OCALA--College of Central Florida men's basketball player Ivan Gandia has signed a letter of intent with the University of North Florida to become a part of the Osprey men's basketball program next year.
Gandia, a freshman from Caguas, Puerto Rico, was an integral part of the 2016-17 squad that helped lead the Patriots to a state-best 13th FCSAA State Tournament appearance and a runner-up finish in the Mid-Florida Conference.
In his single season as a Patriot, Gandia averaged 15.3 points per game and 6.5 assists per game, earning him first team all-conference and all-state honors. He put up 10 or more points per game on 24 occasions this season, with nine games in which he put up 20 or more points. Gandia recorded a career-best 33 points on January 18 against conference rival Daytona State College.
Gandia notched three double-doubles on the year and recorded 10 or more assists on four occasions. On February 15, he broke the FCSAA single-game assist record with 21 assists in a win over DSC. CF's KJ Maura set the record a year earlier.
