Maura named NJCAA First Team All-American

OCALA-- College of Central Florida men's basketball player KJ Maura headlined the class of 2016 NJCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball All-Americans named by the National Junior College Athletic Association this morning. 

Maura is the reigning Florida College System Athletic Association State Player of the Year and Mid-Florida Conference Player of the Year. He was also named FCSAA Player of the Week three times over the course of the season. 

The sophomore point guard from Puerto Rico led the country in assists per game (9.8) and total assists (304). Maura also set the state and national record for most assists in a single game, dishing out 20 against conference rival Florida State College at Jacksonville on January 23. 

Maura is one of two men's basketball players from the state of Florida to receive NJCAA All-American honors, but is the only player to be named First Team All-American. CJ Jackson from Eastern Florida State College received Second Team All-American honors.
