Men's Basketball defeats Santa Fe, moves into No.1 spot in MFC

GAINESVILLE- Thanks to a monster game from Brandon Tabb, the College of Central Florida men's basketball team picked up a huge road win over rival Santa Fe.

Tabb buried 8-of-16 from 3-point range and scored 33 points to help the Patriots knock off the Saints 86-79.

CF, all alone in first place in the Mid-Florida Conference with a 4-2 record, avenged a one-point home loss to Santa Fe from earlier this season.

The Patriots have won 22 of the last 25 meetings with SFC.

Devaughn Jenkins (15 points, 10 rebounds), Eddy Polanco (15 points) and K.J. Maura (13 assists) also contributed in the win for CF.

Led by Tabb, CF made 10-of-32 from the foul line.

Tabb (7-of-10) and Polanco (9-of-13) helped the Patriots make 22-of-32 at the foul line.

CF also held a 39-31 rebounding edge on Santa Fe.

The Patriots led 44-31 at halftime, before they held off a late charge by the Saints.

CF hasn't lost to Santa Fe in Gainesville since 2013.

The Patriots will be back on the court this Saturday, February 6, when they host Victory Rock Prep at 7:30 p.m.
