OCALA--One game after setting the all-time single game assist record for the state of Florida at the junior college level, Kevin Maura showed he could score as well.
Fresh off a 20-assist effort in a win over FSC-Jacksonville, Maura scored 30 points and dished out 12 assists to lead the College of Central Florida men's basketball team to a convincing 99-73 over Daytona State.
Maura made 4-of-6 shots from 3-point range and the Patriots buried 14-of-31 overall in the rout.
CF led by 14 at halftime and Maura equaled his first half total with 14 points over the first five minutes of the second half to turn the game into a rout.
For the game, CF made 52.2 percent of its shots and scored 24 points off 21 turnovers by the Falcons, who came into the game in first place in the Mid-Florida Conference.
Brandon Tabb added 19 points, thanks to 5-of-9 shooting from 3-point range. Iseoluwapo Jegede (13 points, 10 rebounds), Malik Dunbar (11 points) and Allen Costley (11 points) also had strong games for CF, who assisted on 25 of its 36 field goals.
The Patriots snapped a two-game home losing streak to Daytona State. CF also avenged a 20-point road loss to the Falcons earlier this season in which it shot 2-of-26 from 3-point range.
This time around, the Patriots held Daytona without a field goal for the game's first six minutes and rolled to the win.
The Patriots will be back on the court next Wednesday, February 3 as they head to Santa Fe College for a crucial conference match up. In their last meeting, the Saints nailed a game-winning 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining to defeat the Patriots for the first time in two years.
