OCALA--The College of Central Florida men's basketball team improved to 5-0 at home this season with a 77-64 win over Pensacola State on Saturday afternoon at Patriot Gym.
CF (5-2), winners of three straight overall, used a 14-0 run to go up up 49-35 with 15:51 left and wasn't threatened the rest of the way.
Devaughn Jenkins (18 points, four rebounds), Eddy Polanco (12 points, eight rebounds, six assists), Allen Costley (12 points, five rebounds), Kevin Maura (12 points, 13 assists), Malik Dunbar (12 points, four rebounds) and Paul Turner (11 points) led the way for the Patriots.
For the game, CF made 30-of-54 from the floor, aided by 12-of-26 from 3-point range. The Patriots also held the Pirates to 38.9 percent shooting and forced 15 turnovers.
CF, meanwhile, assisted on 22 of 30 made field baskets and committed just seven turnovers.
Maura, the team's point guard, didn't commit a turnover in 35 minutes to go along with 13 assists.
The Patriots will be back at home this Friday as they host Indian River State College. Tip off is at 5:30 p.m.
