JACKSONVILLE- The College of Central Florida men's basketball team bounced back from a loss to Daytona State with a 92-67 rout of FSC-Jacksonville to conclude its regular season.
The Patriots (22-8, 7-2) will now host the Mid-Florida Conference championship game on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. against either Santa Fe or FSC-J.
CF won the conference tournament last season with a win over Santa Fe and has won the event three of the last seven years to finish as the conference runner-up, part of its current nine-year streak of clinching a spot in the NJCAA/FCSAA State Tournament.
Had the Patriots received help from Santa Fe on Saturday, it could have tied Daytona State for the conference title and a conference tournament wouldn't have been necessary with two teams tied atop the standings.
Daytona trailed at halftime, but rallied past Santa Fe, which was sent its fourth straight defeat.
CF will now await the winner of the game between Santa Fe/FSC-J, which takes place on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. in Gainesville.
On Saturday, the Patriots improved to 3-0 on the year against FSC-J by outscoring the Blue Wave 51-32 in the second half.
In all, 11 Patriot players scored in the rout, which saw them make 10-of-23 from 3-point range. CF held FSC-J to 36 percent shooting overall and 34 percent after halftime.
