ST. PETERSBURG- The College of Central Florida men's basketball team came up huge down the stretch to knock off St. Petersburg College 73-61 on Tuesday night.
The Patriots (6-2) closed the game on a 20-4 run and knocked off the Titans in a battle of state tournament teams from a year ago.
CF was stellar on defense, as it held SPC to 30.6 percent shooting, which included holding the Titans to 15.3 percent (3-of-20) from beyond the arc.
The Patriots, who made 48.3 percent of their shots, led 35-28 at halftime, but saw SPC battle back to go ahead 54-53.
From there, CF dominated behind the likes of Terrell Rogers (21 points, five assists), Miguel Reyes (19 points, 3-of-4 from 3-point range), Devaughn Jenkins (14 points, six rebounds, 6-of-7 shooting in 21 minutes off the bench) and Corbyn Jackson (11 rebounds).
The Patriots head back on the road Friday as they travel to Swainsboro, GA and Waycross, GA for a two-game, weekend series against East Georgia College and South Georgia State.
