Ryan Smith enters his third season as an assistant coach and strength coach for the College of Central Florida baseball team.

This past season, Smith helped develop one of the top offenses in the state en rout to a Mid-Florida Conference runner-up finish and state tournament qualification. The Patriot squad shattered the previous CF home run record (56) by blasting 94 homers on the year, good for No. 1 in FCSAA and No. 7 in the NJCAA. Five of the Top 10 home run hitters in the state were from CF. 

Smith was instrumental in the development of sophomore infielder Christian Smallwood, East Carolina University signee. Smallwood finished second in the state in total home runs (15), while ranking No. 6 in RBI (58) and Top 15 in batting average (.390).

As a squad, Smith helped the Patriot offense to No. 1 FCSAA finishes in on-base percentage (.428) and slugging percentage (.568), while finishing No. 2 in team batting average (.322). CF ranked Top 10 in the state all season long and garned six MFC All-Conference selections and an all-state selection in Smallwood. 

Smith spent two years as a player at CF, helping lead the Patriots to the state semi-final game in 2014.  After CF, he finished his career at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga. where he was named to the 2016 Gulf South Conference All-Academic Team. 

In the summer, Smith coaches in the Central Florida Summer League and helps coach a local travel baseball team, along with various youth camps.
