The No. 5 Nationally Ranked College of Central Florida Patriots defeated Orlando TNXL Academy 7-0 on Tuesday as five pitchers combined to throw the shutout. The win ran the Pats' winning streak to ten games and improved their record to 23-5.
Logan Adams started the game and went his scheduled two innings allowing only one hit and striking out three. Nick Love (3-2) was credited with the win by tossing four innings, allowing one hit, and striking out two. Ben Chesnutt, Logan Clayton and Evan Michelson each threw one inning to close the game out.
The Patriots took a 3-0 lead when Kevin Kilpatrick hit his first home run of the season to deep left field. Kyler Hultgren drove home Edrick Felix with a fourth inning single to increase the lead to 5-0. Tre Hondras drove home Matt Cedarburg with an infield single to make it a 6-0 ball game. Miguel Useche scored on a groundout by Carlos Gonzalez to make the final score 7-0.
Kyler Hultgren finished the day going 4 for 5, with a double and an RBI. Kilpatrick went 2 for 4 with the HR and three RBI and Hondras finished the game with two hits and an RBI.
Central Florida added another home game with Orlando TNXL on Wednesday, 2:00 PM. The Pats will return to conference play on Friday when they host Lake Sumter State College, 1:00 PM start.
