The College of Central Florida Patriots (10-1) ran their winning streak to six games on Monday afternoon with a 26-1 route over Tampa TNXL Academy. The Pats used a 9 run first inning to jump out to an early lead. The key hits in the first came off the bats of Carlos Gonzalez with a two-run double and Miguel Useche with an RBI single. In the ten-run seventh inning Tre Hondras drove home Matt Cedarburg and Useche with a double down the left field line. Kyler Hultgren then drove home two more runs with a single to centerfield. Cedarburg crushed a deep flyball to centerfield for a triple bringing home Nicolas Calero. Cedarburg ended the day going 3 for 6 with three runs score and three RBI. Calero went 4 for 5 with four runs and three RBI. Hondras had three RBI which ran his team leading total to 18 for the season. Spencer Stephens stayed hot at the plate with three hits, three runs and two RBI.
Nick Love (1-1) started the game on the mound to earn the win for the Pats going two innings, striking out three while giving up zero runs. Seth Baugh and Riley Huge each made their season debuts today on the mound combining for four innings pitched giving up no runs, no hits and striking out five batters. Mason Ronan closed out the game by striking out three batters in his one inning of work. The Patriots, ranked #1 in the NJCAA Region 8 for the third straight week, go on the road for their next four games starting Wednesday when they travel to the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota for a 5:00 PM game.
