PATRIOTS FALTER LATE

The College of Central Florida Patriots (12-4) could not hold on to a late 2-0 lead and fell to St. Petersburg College, 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon. Patriot starting pitcher, Logan Adams (1-1) was in full control for 6.2 innings, striking out ten Titan batters, but could not get that last out in the seventh inning. El Rico Riley doubled with two outs and then scored on a Carlos Castillo single to get the Titans within one run. After a Chris Williams single, Adams was relieved by Troy Britts and an error by third baseman, Jeslyn Whitehead allowed the Titans to take a 3-2 lead. St. Petersburg (6-3) pushed across two more runs in the eighth inning for the final margin of victory. Channing Young (1-0) started for the Titans and tossed seven innings, allowing only two runs on three hits, and struck out four Patriot batters. The Patriots were looking to get win number 800 for Head Coach Marty Smith but will have to try again this weekend when they hit the road to play South Georgia State College and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
