OCALA-- Sophomore third baseman Ricky Presno delivered a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to lead FCSAA No. 3 CF past No. 1 Florida SouthWestern State College 7-6 on Saturday afternoon at Goodlett Field.
Presno got the scoring going for the College of Central Florida (17-1) in the bottom of the sixth inning with his first of two homers on the day, cutting the Bucs' lead to two.
Down 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh, the Patriots rallied with a five-run inning that included two home runs: a three-run homer from sophomore shortstop Zach West and a two-run bomb from freshman outfielder James Nix.
The Bucs countered with a rally of its own.
FSW's redshirt freshman Connor Bagnieski delivered a two out, two RBI single in the eighth inning to tie things.
To the ninth we went.
Freshman reliever Francisco Mateo came in relief of Brendan Bell to strike out the side in the top half of the inning before Presno walked it off with a solo home run off a first-pitch breaking ball to lead the Patriots to its seventeenth-straight win.
Presno finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate with two home runs, two RBI and two runs scored. Nix continued his dominance at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI, while West (1-for-3) drove in three.
Mateo secured his first win as a Patriot, not allowing a hit and striking out three in 1.1 scoreless innings of work.
