OCALA- The College of Central Florida baseball team fell to Santa Fe College 15-7 on Wednesday afternoon in Gainesville.
The Patriots led 3-2 after two innings thanks to Luis Medina's three-run homer, his 12th of the season.
The Saint would plate a single run in the fourth to tie things up before exploding for a six-run fifth inning.
The Patriots had a chance to get out the fifth just 5-3, but a two-out error by second baseball Marcus Judd extended the inning. Santa Fe went on to plate six more runs off relievers Brenden Kudlinski and Nick Geller to enforce the run-rule.
Bowling finished the day 3-for-3 at the plate with a RBI, while May (1-for-4) and Medina (1-for-2) each drove in three runs in the loss.
On the mound, Mark Potter allowed four earned runs on 11 hits and struck out six in 4.2 innings in the loss.
CF still sits in second place in the Mid-Florida Conference at 16-6 with two games to play, thanks in part to a St. John's River State College loss on Wednesday. The Patriots travels to St. John's River for the crucial conference match up on Friday at 6 p.m. If the CF defeats the Vikings (no matter the outcome of the final conference game), it will clinch second place in the MFC due to the Patriots' head-to-head record over St. Johns.
