#CFBASEBALL IMPROVES TO 2-0 IN MFC AFTER 11-3 RUN-RULE

OCALA--College of Central Florida baseball team run-ruled Daytona State College 11-3 (7 innings) on Monday afternoon at Goodlett Field. With the win, the Patriots improve to 2-0 in conference play.

CF (12-6-1) trailed 3-1 before plating six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to go ahead for good.

Marcus Judd got the scoring going in the fourth with a pop fly to second base to score Tanner May. A batter later, John Fiorenza doubled to right field to put the Patriots out in front 4-3 and never look back.

The Patriots tacked on three insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings, before a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch brought home the 11th run for the game-ending run-rule.

Austin Nickle started the game, allowing two earned runs on nine hits in four innings of work before giving way to Josh Harper. Harper stifled the Falcon offense, giving up just two hits in three scoreless innings of work for the win.

At the plate, May went 2-for-2 with two RBI including a solo home run, while Yorvis Torrealba, Ricky Presno, Fiorenza, and Judd also drove in two runs each.

CF will go for the sweep when they head to Daytona to close out the three-game series. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.

The Patriots will host a non-conference game against Lincoln Land Community College on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
