#CFBASEBALL RUN RULES DAYTONA IN CONFERENCE OPENER

OCALA--College of Central Florida right-handed pitcher Mark Potter threw a complete game two-hitter as the Patriots defeated Daytona State College 9-1 (8 innings) in Daytona Beach in the conference opener.

CF (11-6-1, 1-0 MFC) got out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning after outfielder Yorvis Torrealba hit a hard chopper to third that went through the legs of the third baseman, driving in Hunter Bowling and Blake Marabell.   

The Patriot offense, which leads the state and nation in total home runs and ranks Top 3 in the state in team batting average, plated two more runs in the fifth and four in the seventh inning before scoring the additional run in the top of the eighth to seal the run-rule victory. 

Hunter Bowling led the Patriots at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, while Luis Medina went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Media currently leads the state and nation in total runs batted in (36) and home runs (10).

Christian Smallwood and Tanner May also drove in a run.

Potter allowed just one earned run on two hits and struck out three in eight innings of work.

CF returns to action on Monday when it hosts Daytona for the second game of the three-game series. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
