OCALA--The College of Central Florida baseball team fell 6-1 to Palm Beach State College on Saturday afternoon at Goodlett Field.
CF fell down early as the Panthers went up 2-0 in the second inning and plated an additional three runs in the fourth to increase the lead to 5-0. The Panthers added an additional insurance run in the top of the ninth before Luis Medina countered in the bottom of the ninth with a sac fly to right to drive in the only Patriots run of the day.
Christian Smallwood led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 and a runs scored while Medina had the lone RBI. On the day, Palm Beach out-hit the Patriots 11-5.
Hunter Bowling made his second start of the season, giving up three earned runs on six hits and striking out three in 3.1 innings in the loss.
CF will be back in action on Monday when they host Hillsborough Community College at 3 p.m.
