OCALA-- The College of Central Florida baseball team rallied past Florida Southwestern State College on Saturday afternoon at Goodlett Field.
The Patriots found themselves down early after two errors and a solo home run by FSW's Jett Swetland. CF's right-handed pitcher Jake Grenus settled in and gave the Patriots seven, quality innings while the offense heated up in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to win it 6-5 over the Bucs.
A pair of walks and a single loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth for CF right fielder David Flores. Flores drew the walk to put CF on the board 3-1.
FSW would respond with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth to go ahead 5-4, but a pair of RBI singles from Vinny Adonna and Cameron in the bottom half of the inning put the Patriots ahead for good.
On the mound, Grenus allowed just one hit and scattered five hits in seven innings of work. Righty Richie Cruz came in to close the door in the ninth, striking out two of three batters and not allowing a hit in the win.
Reddick led the Patriots at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Other key contributors include Cameron (1-for-3, 2 runs scored, RBI), Adonna (1-for-3, runs scored, RBI), and Lugo (1-for-1, two runs scored, RBI).
