Baseball drops eleven-inning heartbreaker

OCALA--The College of Central Florida baseball team dropped an eleven-inning heartbreaker on Wednesday night against State College of Florida.

It was a match-up of the nation's top two JUCO pitchers in CF's Nate Pearson and SCF's Brendon Little. More than 70 scouts flocked Bradenton for this primetime, pitching duel.

The Manatees got on the board first, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning and would take a 5-2 lead heading into the ninth. CF strung together a series of singles, with Will Reddick delivering the game-tying single with two on and two out.

SCF went on to string together three consecutive singles to defeat the Patriots 6-5 in the bottom of the 11th inning.

Ben Koff came in relief for Pearson in the seventh, giving CF 4.1 quality innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits and striking out three. Pearson pitched six complete, holding the Manatees to just four hits and striking out six.

At the plate, Luis Medina (solo home run) and Reddick each went 2-for-5 with an RBI in the loss.
