Cassala, Harmon, Heyer & Wallace headline MFC honors

OCALA--The College of Central Florida baseball team was well represented when the Mid-Florida Conference coaches released the all-conference teams.

John Cassala, Luke Heyer, BJ Harmon and Cooper Wallace were CF players who made the first team.

Cassala led the team in batting average with a .393 mark. He also added eight homers and 55 RBI.

The freshman first baseman had two homers and six RBI in the Patriots' win over Lake Sumter State College, which put them into the play-in game for a trip to the Region 8 Tournament.

Heyer, a University of Kentucky signee, led CF in homers (12) and RBI (58) during the regular season. He is currently tied for first in the state for runs batted in and tied for second for home runs hit.

Harmon, a sophomore outfielder, hit .348 with two homers and 16 RBI.

Wallace went 9-3 with a 3.54 ERA and struck out 85 batters in 89 innings. He's currently tied for first with most wins in the state and ranks top 5 in total strike outs.

Making the second team was David Lebron, who like Wallace, earned Region 8 Pitcher of the Week during the course of CF's strong late season run. Lebron currently holds one of the lowest ERAs in the state.

Robby Frantzis, Bradley Felkel and Kevin Gomez were honorable mention picks.

Frantzis was strong out of the bullpen down the stretch and recorded a 1.07 ERA in 25 1/3 innings of work.

Felkel, a sophomore outfielder, hit .303 with eight home runs and 33 RBI, while Gomez, a freshman catcher, hit .352.

CF faces Miami Dade on May 2 at Polk State in a play-in game for a trip to the Region 8 Tournament.
