OCALA-- The College of Central Florida baseball team picked up a crucial conference win over rival St. Johns River State College, downing the Vikings 4-2 Wednesday afternoon at Goodlett Field.
The Patriots struck first in the bottom half of the second inning. Vincent Addona started things off with a single up the middle before Nassor Williamson and Brandon Harmon laid down consecutive bunts to the load the bases with two outs. Then, Bradley Felkel stepped to the plate, battled back from an 0-2 count, to take the walk and bring home Addona. John Cassala would drive in the other two runs with a two-run single up the middle to put the Patriots ahead for good.
Left-handed pitcher Cooper Wallace led the Patriots on the mound, allowing just two runs on eight hits and striking out eight in seven innings of work.
Robby Frantzis threw two innings of shut-down relief, not allowing a hit and striking out three to record the save.
