OCALA--The College of Central Florida baseball team won a pair of games on Saturday and improved to 13-6 on the year.
CF downed South Georgia State 5-4 on a walk-off RBI single by Vincent Addona in the bottom of the ninth inning and then got a 13-strikeout performance from David Lebron in a 3-2 victory over Florida Southwestern State in seven innings at Goodlett Field.
In the opener, Bradley Felkel was hit with two outs and Addona followed with the game-winning hit, as CF had its second consecutive walk-off win in as many days over South Georgia.
The Patriots scored four times in the sixth and led 4-1, but South Georgia tied the game with three runs in the seventh.
Addona (2-for-3, run scored, RBI, double), Luke Heyer (double), John Cassala (triple), B.J. Harmon (2-for-4), Will Reddick (3-for-4, run scored), Evan Holland (2-for-3, run scored, two RBI) and Dalton Mauldin (1-for-4, run scored, double) led CF at the plate.
Ryan Knowles fanned four in 2 1/3 innings of relief to get the win for the Patriots.
From there, CF turned to Lebron, who didn't allow an earned run in his dominant start.
The sophomore needed just 101 pitches, 75 for strikes, to shut down Southwestern.
Lebron stayed ahead throughout, as he threw first-pitch strikes to 21-of-27 hitters he faced.
CF got all of its offense in the fourth inning, but saw Southwestern pull to within one thanks to a pair of unearned runs in the seventh, before Lebron shut the door.
The Patriots open up Mid-Florida Conference play this Wednesday as they travel to rival Santa Fe College. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
