OCALA--The College of Central Florida baseball team dropped an 8-2 contest to Hillsborough Community College on Monday afternoon at Goodlett Field.
CF (4-2) never led in the game, but answered a two-run effort by the Hawks in top of the first with two runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning.
From there, the game remained scoreless until the seventh when HCC scored three times.
The Hawks added two more runs in the eighth to extend their edge and even the series at 1-all this season with CF.
Ryan Knowles (3-for-4) led the way for the Patriots at the plate.
Jacob Grenus went six innings and struck out eight, but was saddled with the loss for CF.
The Patriots face St. Petersburg College on Wednesday afternoon in Clearwater. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
