CF Baseball downs Palm Beach in season opener

PALM BEACH- The College of Central Florida baseball team opened the season with an 11-1 rout of No. 16 Palm Beach State on Sunday afternoon.

Cooper Wallace tossed six scoreless innings and scattered three hits in the win for the Patriots.

Vincent Addona (4-for-6, three runs scored, two RBI), Luke Heyer (3-for-5, three RBI), Connor Crile (1-for-4, run scored, three RBI), Brandon Harmon (2-for-3, run scored), Evan Holland (1-for-3, run scored), Dalton Mauldin (1-for-4, run scored, RBI), Garrett Wright (two runs scored) and Levi Hollingsworth (1-for-4, runs scored) led the way for CF at the plate.

Heyer, Harmon and Addona had doubles for the Patriots, who finished with 13 hits in the win.

The Patriots scored a single run in each of the first two innings, before scoring four runs in the fourth. CF added four more runs in the ninth.

Palm Beach scored its only run in the bottom of the ninth.

CF visits Hillsborough Community College today at 3 p.m. David Lebron will get the start on the mound for the Patriots.
