Baseball sends sophomores out on winning note, downs Lakehawks 6-2

OCALA- The College of Central Florida baseball team sent it sophomores out on a good note in their final home game of the season.

The Patriots (26-21, 11-11) won their second game in a row, as they knocked off Lake-Sumter State 6-2.

The turnaround for CF comes on the heels of a seven-game losing streak after it jumped out to a 9-3 record in conference play.

With the win, CF won the season series with the Lakehawks, 3-1.

CF scored three runs in both the third and fifth innings and saw four pitchers combine to shut down LSC.

Zach Whitaker earned the win by tossing four scoreless innings of two-hit ball. The sophomore didn't walk a batter and fanned four during this stint on the mound.

CF was led at the plate by Christian Khawam (2-for-4, run scored, RBI, double), Ran Crile (2-for-4, two runs scored, RBI), Justin Ambrosino (2-for-4, run scored, RBI), Colby Brown (1-for-4, RBI), Luke Heyer (1-for-3, two RBI, double), Ben Ellzey (1-for-3, run scored) and Andrew Frazier (1-for-3, run scored).

CF will return to action with a road game against Daytona State on Friday afternoon.
