St. Johns takes season series vs Patriots

PALATKA- The College of Central Florida baseball team dropped a pair of games to St. Johns River State on Wednesday afternoon.

The Patriots allowed four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning in a completion of a suspended game and fell 7-3, before they dropped the regularly scheduled game by a 3-2 score.

CF (24-20, 9-10) saw its losing streak upped to seven games, six of those in Mid-Florida Conference play.

St. Johns River (41-7, 16-3), the nation's No. 2 ranked team, pulled out the second game with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Patriots took the lead at 2-1 on a two-run homer by Christian Khawam, but the Vikings rallied and won the season series, 3-1 over CF.

Aside from Khawam (2-for-3), Ben Ellzey (2-for-4, double) and Ryan Crile (run scored) also contributed for CF.

David Lebron went 6 2/3 innings and allowed one run on four hits, before the Vikings rallied against Cooper Wallace, just like they did against Zach Whitaker in the opener.

CF will look to snap its losing streak when it visits FSC-Jacksonville on Friday afternoon. The Patriots are 3-0 on the year against the Blue Wave.
