OCALA- The College of Central Florida baseball team had no trouble with Lake-Sumter State on Friday afternoon.
The Patriots (24-13, 9-3) pounded the Lakehawks with 17 hits on their way to a 13-0 win at Goodlett Field.
Cooper Wallace earned the win for CF with six scoreless innings of four-hit ball. Wallace walked one and struck out eight.
The Patriots, now 2-0 against LSSC this season, were led at the plate in the rout by Christian Khawam (2-for-5, run scored, RBI), Ryan Crile (3-for-4, three runs scored), Justin Ambrosino (2-for-4, run scored, RBI), Colby Brown (1-for-3, run scored), Luke Heyer (3-for-4, two runs scored, three RBI, double), Malik Tatis (2-for-4, two runs scored, two RBI), Nick Mira (2-for-3, two RBI, two runs scored) and Dalton Mauldin (1-for-2, run scored, three RBI) paced CF at the plate.
The Patriots broke the game open with six runs in the third and then added four more in the fourth.
CF extended its lead to 13 runs with two in the sixth, before it ended the game via the mercy rule after seven innings.
The Patriots will go for the sweep on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. with a trip to Leesburg against Lake-Sumter.
