CF Baseball ninth inning rally vs Santa Fe falls short

OCALA-The College of Central Florida baseball team nearly pulled one out against rival Santa Fe College on Saturday afternoon.

The Patriots allowed four runs in the fifth, but crept back late, before falling just short, 4-3 at Goodlett Field.

After scoring once in the bottom of the eighth, CF (15-10, 1-2) scored twice in the ninth on consecutive RBI doubles by Nick Mira and Andrew Frazier.

With two on and two out, though, the Saints escaped and improved to 2-1 against CF this season with their second straight win over the Patriots.

Justin Ambrosino (3-for-5), Colby Brown (2-for-4), Mira (1-for-4, run scored, RBI double) and Frazier (2-for-4, run scored, RBI, double) led CF at the plate.

Cooper Wallace went 5 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on eight hits for CF in the loss.

The Patriots return to action Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. with a home game against defending conference champion St. Johns River.
