CF Baseball downs Santa Fe in conference opener

OCALA-After taking a shot from Santa Fe College, the College of Central Florida baseball team responded in a big way in its Mid-Florida Conference opener.

The Patriots scored six times in the bottom of the eighth after the Saints tied the game with three runs in the top of the frame and went on to a 10-4 win on Wednesday afternoon at Goodlett Field.

Luke Heyer's two-run triple snapped the tie and gave CF the lead for good, before Ben Ellzey's two-run triple extended the Patriots' lead to four.

Heyer finished 2-for-5 with four RBI, including a home run.

Ellzey also homered and went 3-for-4 with four RBI for the Patriots, who visit Santa Fe on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.
