Crile drives in three, leads CF past SFC

BRADENTON- The College of Central Florida baseball team earned a quality 5-3 road win over State College of Florida-Manatee on Friday afternoon.

CF (8-6) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning, before the Manatees scored twice in the bottom half of the frame.

From there, the Patriots added two more runs in fourth.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the ninth when SCF scored one run, but Luke Heyer, the fourth CF pitcher, got the final two outs for the save.

David Lebron allowed two runs on six hits over five innings of work to earn the win for the Patriots. CF's Bryan Garcia got credit for the hold with three innings of scoreless relief.

At the plate, Ryan Crile (3-for-5, three RBI), Christian Khawam (1-for-4, RBI, double), Justin Ambrosino (1-for-5, RBI), Colby Brown (1-for-4), Heyer (1-for-4, double), Malik Tatis (1-for-4), Nick Mira (2-for-4, two runs scored), Ben Ellzey (1-for-4, two runs scored) and Andrew Frazier (2-for-4, run scored) led the Patriots.

With the win, CF improved to 2-0 on the season against SCF.

The Patriots return home on Saturday at noon for a doubleheader against Eastern Florida State. CF went 1-1 earlier this season on the road against the Titans.
