CF Baseball downs South Florida

AVON PARK- The College of Central Florida baseball team took advantage of a barrage of mistakes by South Florida State College on Friday afternoon.

The Patriots saw the host Panthers commit nine errors, which helped them rally from a two-run deficit in a 13-6 win.

CF (6-4), winners of three straight games, improved to 2-0 on the season against SFSC.

After the Panthers built a 4-2 lead, the Patriots scored five times in the fifth and three times in the sixth, which was part of a span of nine unanswered runs.

Bryan Garcia threw 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and struck out three to earn the win for CF.

Ryan Crile (2-for-5, two runs scored, RBI), Christian Khawam (1-for-2, three runs scored), Justin Ambrosino (2-for-5, two runs scored, three RBI, two doubles), Luke Heyer (1-for-4, run scored, RBI), Colby Brown (1-for-4, run scored, RBI), Malik Tatis (two RBI), Dalton Mauldin (two runs scored) and David Rodriuez (1-for-5, run scored, RBI) paced CF at the plate.

The Patriots have scored 22 runs over their last two games.

CF just missed out on tying its season-high for runs by one, a mark set earlier this season in a 14-0 win over Indian River State.
