OCALA, FL-- After an impressive run in the recent FCSAA State Baseball Tournament, the College of Central Florida baseball team has put together an impressive recruiting class.
CF baseball coach Marty Smith announced 11 signees for 2014-2015 school year.
In the outfield, German Yerani Reyes Soto (Coral Gables), Garrett Wright (Plant City Durant) and David Rodriguez Marcelino will join the Patriots next season.
Wright had an excellent senior season with a .418 average and also knocked in 16 runs, while Soto helped Coral Gables to the postseason in Class 8A.
On the mound, Smith and company inked deals with pitchers Michael Wallace (Bartram Trail), Octavio Mirabal, Tanner Hurley (Palm Beach Gardens), Jesus Centeno Lopez (Venezuela), Ryan DePontbriand (George Jenkins) and Luke Heyer (Durant), who also plays third base.
Hurley threw a complete-game four-hitter for Gardens in its 12-0 win over Jupiter In the district title game.
DePontbriand went 3-1 with a 1.45 ERA as a senior, while Heyer had four saves and also drove in 20 runs at the plate.
Juan Pena (Syracuse, N.Y.), and Dalton Mauldin (Lake City Columbia) are among the infielders who have signed with the Patriots for next year. Mauldin hit .370 as a senior and scored 23 runs.
