OCALA-- The College of Central Florida baseball team will attempt to clinch its first trip to the FCSAA State Tournament in Lakeland, Fla. in two years with a win over Daytona State on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Goodlett Field.
The Patriots need to only knock off the Falcons for the third time in four meetings this season or have Lake Sumter State defeat Seminole State on Wednesday to earn a trip to Tiger Town.
CF has standout pitcher Boomer Biegalski lined up for DSC.
Earlier this season, Biegalski (7-3) earned a win over the Falcons, after allowing just three earned runs on seven hits in an 8-4 win. The freshman walked just one and struck out eight in seven innings of work in his victory over DSC.
In their second meeting this season, CF downed the Falcons 11-5, as Collin Woody went 4-for-3 with three runs scored and five RBI. Woody is 7-for-14 with five runs scored, five RBI, two doubles and one triple so far this season against Daytona.
Ryan Crile (6-for-8, run scored), Christian Khawam (5-for-13, three runs scored, three RBI), Enderson Velasquez (5-for-12, three runs scored, two RBI) and Ryan Smith (6-for-13, two runs scored, four RBI) have also hit well this season against DSC.
Ambrosino is 12-for-28 over his last nine games and has recorded a hit in eight of his last nine appearances. Connor Crile has also hit in eight of his last 10 games.
Another CF player who has hit well of late is Colby Brown. He has hit safely in 9-of-10 games, going 14-for-39 during that span.
