The College of Central Florida baseball team was unable to clinch a spot in the FCSAA State Tournament on Saturday.
The Patriots dropped consecutive games for the first time since early March with a 2-1 loss to Seminole State at home. The Raiders scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning.
CF (29-16, 14-7) is still two games up on Seminole (22-16-1, 12-9) in the league standings for second place and the conference's final playoff berth. The Patriots fell 2/12 games behind St. Johns River State (33-12, 16-4) for the top spot in the Mid-Florida Conference with three games left to play.
Mike Cetta pitched into the ninth inning, but suffered the tough luck loss. Cetta allowed just two runs on four hits in eight-plus innings of work. He walked three and struck out seven, but CF's offense produced just one run in its second straight 2-1 defeat.
The Patriots will visit Lake Sumter on Monday afternoon. First pitch is at 3 p.m.
