JACKSONVILLE- The College of Central Florida baseball team won its fourth-straight game, as it downed FSC-Jacksonville 4-1 on Monday afternoon.
Robby Frantzis (4-2) didn't allow a run in six innings of work. The freshman from Lakeland allowed five hits and three walks, to go along with eight strikeouts.
CF struck first with three runs in the first and one in the second, before Frantzis extended a string for his team against FSC-J where the staff allowed just five runs in 27 innings of work. Colby Brown had a two-run single in the first, while Ryan Smith added a run-scoring base hit for the Patriots. CF took the season series 3-1 versus the Blue Wave.
Brown (1 for 4, two RBI) finished up the series 4 for 12 with three RBI and two runs scored against FSC-J, while teammates Enderson Velasquez (7 for 14, three RBI) and Collin Woody (5 for 11, three runs scored, two RBI) also had solid performances.
On Monday, Velasquez (RBI), Robby Jolley (1 for 3, run scored), Christian Khawam (2 for 4, run scored, double), Smith (2 for 4, run scored, RBI) and Woody (1 for 4, run scored) were the top hitters for the Patriots.
CF will now turn its attention to St. John's River State.
The Patriots (29-14, 14-5), who are 1/2 game behind conference leader SJRSC (31-12, 14-4), will visit the Vikings on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in Palatka with first-place in the conference on the line. CF went 1-2 against the Vikings earlier this season, but turned things around with a strong pitching effort from Boomer Biegalski in an extra-inning win.
Since then, Biegalski, a two-time FCSAA Pitcher of the Week, and the rest of the Patriots have won 11 of 13 in Mid-Florida Conference play.
