OCALA--During his time as an administrator, Bob Zelinski has made an impact on junior college athletics across the nation.
Recently, the College of Central Florida athletic director received major recognition, as he was honored with the NJCAA's Appreciation Award NJCAA meetings in Colorado Springs this past week.
Since 1992, Zelinski has held numerous position for the NJCAA as a representative of NJCAA Region 8.
Zelinski has also been the driving force on many key national issues, while serving as the chair of the NJCAA Eligibility Committee.
Most recently, he was the driving force in bringing the NJCAA Region 8 Basketball Tournament to Ocala.
Since Zelinski took over as athletic director at CF, the program has been nationally renowned both on-and-off the playing field.
In 2013, CF won the men's basketball championship, while the Patriot softball program played for the national championship the following year.
The CF baseball, women's basketball and volleyball teams have been consistent winners under Zelinski's watch, while CF's student-athletes set records seemingly every year for academic success.
Respected by his peers statewide, Zelinski was inducted into the FCSAA Hall of Fame and the most valuable player award for Region 8 baseball tournament bears his name.
